Course Description

Prerequisites: Minimum grade of C in NURS 178, NURS 186, and NURS 194; minimum grade of C in NURS 228, concurrent enrollment allowed; minimum grade of C in NURS 238, concurrent enrollment allowed. Minimum grade of PC (pass) required in two clinical courses, NURS 187 and NURS 195. This course is designed to offer hands-on, practical application of the nursing skills and concepts acquired in NURS 238, focusing on the nurse's role in the direct care of complex and/or chronic adult medical-surgical clients with varied backgrounds and perspectives. Emphasis is placed on client-centered care, evidence-based practice and informatics, safety teamwork and collaboration, and professionalism. [Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring]

This course offers hands-on, practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired in NURS 238, focusing on the nurse's role in the care of the adult client experiencing complex and chronic problems including: culturally diverse care, teamwork and collaboration, communication, client education, professionalism and management of care.
